Looks Like a Hosta........

    These plants grow along my shaded creek bank, under hemlock trees, and more profusely and robustly in small sunny clearings along the creek in loamy soil.
    By midsummer they will grow to 4 feet or more in height and the leaves may be as wide as 12 inches.
    I only discovered them late last summer, (they're in an out-of-the-way place), and have not seen any sort of flower develop on them. I thought perhaps that they had flowered early in spring and so, I've been monitoring them since early April --- no sign of flowers to date.

    You may want to be a bit cautious with these. Our local V. viride is very poisonous. I admire them from a short distance!

    Thank you both for the replies.
    I did look up "veratrum" after reading Lila's post and quickly noticed the many cautions pertaining to the poisonous nature of this plant.
