I've come across this shrub that I can't identify in the woods that I walk everyday. I don't have pictures of the flowers, but I do have pics of the distinctive berries. The pods are 5 parted (each with 5 berries), the leaves are opposite and entire, the twigs and the rest of the shrub's brances are very greenish. It is growing in bottom land near a small stream. I'm located in central New Jersey. There are many honeysuckle shrubs around but this doesn't seem to be one of those. Thanks Frederico
Welcome frederico. Looks like Euonymus americanus. http://images.google.com/images?q=E...1I7SUNA_en-GB&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi http://www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/potd/2008/11/euonymus_americanus.php
Frederico - Wow! Never saw anything like that before, except foe the outer "prickly skin." That part looks like the fruit peel of the litchi (Sapindaceae). But I didn't think they'd grow in NJ!
