ive taken up a bit of a hobby in exotic plants in the past year, i have a pretty good group and am looking to add a few new plants but im not sure what to go with, so far i have 2 african violets, a baby rubber plant, a gold dust croton, a palm tree, 5stalks of bamboo a cactus and a desert rose, im trying to decide on a couple new flowering plants that will give me a bit of a challange, as i have alot of free time. any ideas would be great thanks jamie
By 'exotic', I think you mean tropical, as most of those plants are ages old tried and true house plants, though the bamboo and obesum may not be. I just keep haunting the supermkts (whose selection changes throughout the year), local nurseries, etc. but I'm sure you can find many things online. Why not try someplace like www.glasshouseworks.com - they really do have some exotic (less well known) tropicals. Just be sure you know how to care for them (have avail. environment) before spending!

oO j4mie Oo, How about tropical hibiscus bushes, they have just the most beautiful blooms that come in may different colors, or kalanchoe, which has cluster of beautiful flowers. I hope you can find thse plants where you live, Wyatt Reinhart Macomb,IL
i havent heard alot about them, ill have to look into them :d thank you soo much for the suggestion, i know i am definately considering a bonsai, ive always heard they were a good challenge and very rewarding, but im always looking to extend my lil garden, so ill be excited to check out the hibiscus :) thanks soo much jamie
how about some hanging plants .. the wandering jews are not exotic and do flower but are very easy to look after some pothos.. Devils Ivy and Marble Queens.. also the swiss cheese philodendron has a real nice lacy look to it .... since the plants you listed are floor/table plants.. you need something up a bit :) Marn
i love hanging plants, but i have the problem of a very bad back so i cant have anything very high as it makes it hard for me to tend to them, i do have one that i keep hung though, a christmas cactus, thank you for the suggestion though
If you want a no-fail orchid try a cymbidium, they take much less care than all the others and reward you with blooms all winter. Also, try some hibiscus,oleander,or euphorbia millii, they are all great bloomers indoors. My euphorbia is never without bloom.
