I found a plant, sort of like a small tree. It has TINY white flowers that smell like watermelon rind and they are in clusters of 4-6. The leaves are ridged on the sides and not very wide. the leaves are opposite one another. Under the flowers are long, skinny green seed pods - some are attached to one another at the botton with what could be a seed cover, it slips right off. I have searched everywhere to see what this is - to no avail. Anyone have a clue? Vic

Is this a wild plant? How small is small? There is a common woody shrub here with long slender seedpods, spreading dogbane or Apocynum androsaemifolium. It rarely gets larger than 3 feet. I don't remember the leaves being ridged on the sides though. If it is the one, the seedpods come in pairs, and the contain copious long haired (2-3cm) seeds. The link above is to the USDA Plants page.

It is not dogbane. I will bring a stem in to measure and describe better. Maybe try to take a photo of it. thanks, Vic
