I have an opportunity to plant an Ojishi Lion's head maple or a Bloodgood. I've read a lot about both but wasn't sure which is the nicer tree. Was hoping someone who actually has one could add some insight.

    Thanks

Bloodgood is very common this because is "hardy ",Ojishi Lion's is one original maple no common ,but one is dwarf(Ojishi) and another is 5 meter! is important the space that you have ,for large space Bloodgood are better!or plant two Ojishi!!!

I know Shishigashira is supposed to have excellent fall color but haven't been able to find what Ojishi looks like. I heard not as good but still pretty nice. I also read the spring flush is distinct. Still not sure which way to go, space is not an issue.

You can get a bloodgood anytime any where. Ojishi is much harder to find. They are both beautiful trees. I think it depends on what you are looking for. Small or big. My vote goes to Ojishi.
