Hello...we bought a Tilla Cordata Greenspire Linden tree to plant for shade and would like to use the flowers and leaves for tea. I now hear that only certain varieties of Linden are edible and cannot find any info online on whether or not our tree is the right kind? Would appreciate any advice... thanks...
I read that the european linden can be used for teas, but not sure about the Greenspire Linden. I have had Honey that was produced by a bee hive at a local apiary where the bees are used to pollinate several large Linden trees. These trees are well over 40 feet and are so full of flowers that you can hear the honey bees if you stand underneath it. Good luck in finding out your info.
thanks for your reply MannieBoo the bees humming in the flowers sounds wonderful already... and it should provide plenty of shade at 40 feet! I also heard it is susceptlible to the Japanese beetle which we have in our area and aphids too... but hopefully this won't be a problem and we will be drinking Linden tea soon! :)
