Hi Y'all. Just wanted to find out if anyone knows about transplanting lillies while still in bloom. My Mom found a new one in her garden but it's in her backyard behind a fence and she would like it out front. It is already in bloom. We bought six off of another gardener and replanted. They bloomed for about a day and then all the blooms dropped off and now looks sad. We didn't want this to happen to this newly found one. Any ideas ? Thanks a bunch. Kathy..May your gardens bloom with beautiful love. :)

Lilies (bulb) or daylilies (roots)? In general, you're best off waiting until fall when the plants are going dormant.

all lilies have bulbs - some varieties, like day lily, just have smaller ones.

it's best to move them in the fall.

More precise to say: The true Lilies in the genus Lilium is bulbous. Not all plants commonly called "Lilly" are true lilies or bulbous. "Day lilies" are not a different "variety", they are in the genus Hemerocallis and are rhizomatous perennials with tuberous roots.
