Lily pad in a forest?

    Hi I found this plant near Thunder Bay Ontario. It looks like it is in an area that might be seasonally inundated and I am wondering if it could possibly be some kind of pond lily. It does appear to be dried out.

    Reniform (kidney-shaped) leaves in areas of inundated water in spring typically equates to Caltha palustris (marsh marigold) in that part of the world.
