    Hi,
I received a lily bulb as a gift. Apparently before it was given to me, the resident dog chewed on the box basically destroying the planting instructions. So all I go was the bulb, a small pot and a disc that you add warm water to and it expands to fill the pot with soil. Oh, and a picture of the lily. It's pink and that is about all the info I have. Not alot of foliage showing in the picture either.

I have potted the bulb and left it in a sunny local inside. It is about 4-5" tall now and I I'd like to transplant it in my yard. I am in a condo but have a few place that I am allowed to plant things. I have some areas that get morning sun, full sun and some partial afternoon sun.

Since I don't have planting info on the lily, I'm not sure where I should put it. Where would be my best shot? Is it safe for me to plant it now? I am in northeastern USA.

It's still been 60-65 here but with global warming, we should be seeing 80's any day now... j/k.

    thanks for any suggestions!
    Julie

You can plant lily bulbs anytime during the growing season, but, you might not see any flowers until next season. Mine were planted two yrs ago are already a foot tall.
You'll want to plant your lily bulb at least 6"-8" down into well draining soil.
I have a few different kinds in my garden that get some sunny southern and western light:)

Sounds like you could have an amaryllis..they come with those disc things sometimes.

thank you. after looking up what an amaryllis looks like, I think you are correct. The foliage that has begun sprouting looks more like that than a lily.
