I have 6 lilac bushes growing in my backyard in West Kelowna that are about 5 years old and about 6 feet in height. I have other healthy mature lilac bushes in the yard.

This year, 2 of the 6 newer bushes are showing leaves curling inward/upward and becoming thick and rubbery in feel. The mature lilacs are unaffected.

    Any thoughts?

Any pesticide sprays been used in the yard recently?

I've never used pesticides in the yard.

Thx for this. I think it's pretty much done for this year but I will try a fungicide anyway, especially next spring...cheers...steve

I have a similar problem with a mature lilac in Penticton. The leaves are curling under but still appear healthy and green. It started on a few branches and is spreading. I wonder if it's the lack of rain. I do water, but I imagine there's quite an extensive root system. I hope it recovers anyway.
