I am in Vancouver, B.C. I am looking for a local source for oval-leaved privet, Ligustrum ovalifolium. I have spoken to some local plant nurseries. It seems local nurseries don't bring it in. Does anyone know of a local source for this plant?

Listed as an invasive or on the noxious weeds list in 46 US states, so there might be a reason why nursery stock is hard to come by (i.e., US nurseries won't grow it). Is there a reason something else might not work better for your situation?

Thanks very much for your interest and for your reply. It's the green-leaved variety (not the variegated or yellow-leaved varieties) that I'm after. Where the plant is commonly used for hedging, in the UK, it is described as being evergreen or semi-evergreen.

But not here. The local plant nurseries I've contacted told me they don't offer it because, in our climate in winter, the plant is deciduous. And apparently few people want a deciduous hedge.

A hedge is not what I want it for. I need it for a different reason. I'd be happy to explain, in a private message. I posted here to see if someone local might have a specimen and might be willing to share a cutting.
