I was given a plant in a pot but the giver didn't know the name. There are three stems. At the end of each stem grows a long, medium dark leaf and other leaves are growing from the edges of this main leaf. The longest leaf that has these leaf appendages is 26" long and a couple inches wide at the widest. It has six large leaves growing out from its edges. The leaves sort of flop all over; there is no good way to make them look that nice. The whole plant is very healthy but out of control. Does anybody know what it is? The leaves are sort of waxy. I don't have photo capabilities on my computer.

from your description, it could be either a croton (most likely due to floppy quality) or a kalanchoe.

Thanks, jocelyn. From a full description I found of croton, my plant is surely that. The website gives good tips about its behavior and care and conservative pruning. Judy212
