Does anyone recognize this problem? These leaves are on a newly started 3306C rootstock cutting. Over the past 2 weeks, each new leaf spots up, then curls, browns and drops off. The roots on this cutting were very vigorous when it was potted (May22) and the problem started before that. Several other cuttings of this variety (but perhaps not the same plant) are doing fine. Just an update: one other cutting developed this problem and now appears to have died. The cutting pictured gradually improved and now appears healthy (all the affected leaves have dropped off). I still have no specific id of the pathogen. Ralph
If it is not Phomopsis Cane and Leaf Spot as viewed from the first two links below then use the other two links to track this pathogen down. http://axp.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/r302100411.html http://www.nysipm.cornell.edu/factsheets/grapes/diseases/phomopsis.pdf http://axp.ipm.ucdavis.edu/PMG/selectnewpest.grapes.html http://www.ippc.orst.edu/cicp/fruit/grape.html Jim
Thanks Jim. Phomopsis Cane and Leaf Spot was my first guess also, but my Government Grape Gurus thought it was not typical (the spots were different) hence my query to the forum. I agree that it isn't typical, but until a better idea comes along I am treating it as if it was Phomopsis and isolating the plants. Conditions on the rooting bench were certainly ideal for PCLS with regular misting and heat. Ralph
