Leaf (Maple) and red spots......help!

    Hi,
    I have a Maple (don't know what sort) and it has red spots on the leaves.

    Anyone know what I'm looking at?

    looks like the early stages of bladder gall mites

    Thx guys. ANy idea what kind of Maple it is?

    Is the Gall infectious to other plants/harmful?

    I'll read up on it but any knowledge would be appreciated if you've had experience with it.

    I believe the general recommendation is to leave it alone. sprays dont get to them and therefore are generally ineffective. the damage appears to be mainly cosmetic.
