I have a Robinia Twisty Baby that's about 4 years old and until now it's been a healthy tree. This spring the tree leafed out but now on many of the branches the leaves are wilting and then dying off. I've searched the internet and the closest thing I can come up with is possibly leaf canker. Can anyone help me with ideas? I really don't want to lose this tree!

Or, it could be verticillium wilt, damn it.

Re: Leaf die off on Robinia Twisty Baby PICTURES ADDED

Can anyone help me? I've taken a few pictures. To me this doesn't look like vertillicum wilt, the wood looks healthy. I took 2 cuttings and then cut back into the bark

I'm curious to hear the answer myself -- perhaps you could repost this query in the Woody Plants forum.

I lost a Robinia 'Frisia' several years ago, for reasons that I never completely understood. My case is probably different than yours, but there was a similar process of some initial decline, followed over the next couple of seasons by the death of the whole tree.

Some obvious questions are: Does it get enough sun? Is it planted in a place where its roots stay wet much of the time? Could it have been overly fertilized, thus encouraged to grow too lushly for its own good?
