Saw this large leafed ground cover on the side of a mountain trail in the Bulkley Valley this past September. Never seen it elsewhere. Any ideas as to what it is?

Should be Petasites frigidus var. nivalis. If looking up to confirm, it is important to find photos of variety nivalis specifically, as leaf shape (esp. lobing) is a distinguishing factor among the varieties.

See PDF page 333 (or page 325 of the scanned book) in here: https://www.for.gov.bc.ca/hfd/pubs/docs/Mr/Mr100.pdf
