I have a langra mango tree in my backyard, around 5 years old.It must have started giving fruits till now, but hardly we can get 1-2 fruits in the season. The temperature is suitable and there is also no water problem. We try to keep it least infected as possible, the soil of my garden is also fertile, we know this because we grow other vegetables in the same field and is does well. What can be the reason exactly. Is it possible that the other vegetables and flowers deceasing the required nutrition to the tree.Though i have never heard of that.Is their any solution?
I am not using any special fertilizers, as the soil is fertile itself.By the way should i use any fertilizer ?
Dear manishsqrt, I don't have any personal experience in growing Mango trees but the information on the Net tells me that Mango trees start bearing from sixth year onwards and the economic life of a Mango tree exceeds 35 years (see paragraph 5.12 on this website: http://nhb.gov.in/report_files/mango/MANGO.htm). So nothing to worry about, just a little more patience. And don't start using synthetic fertilizers, they will destroy your soil natural fertility and make your plants dependent on fast, unhealthy in the long run, food. Think of it: the Mother Nature has been growing all her plants for billions of years now without feeding them with chemicals. And think how successful she is in doing that! And think about that: people have been using chemical fertilizers for less than one hundred years, mostly during last fifty years, with results that are less and less satisfactory, to say the least, see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fertilizer#Environmental_effects
