We saw this plant at Dart's Hill today, and the pea-shaped flowers and leaves in threes made us think of Laburnum (or yellow Wisteria?), but the flowers are in upright clusters.

Thank you. I did come across that name yesterday, wasn't really convinced. There are a lot of leaf backs in my photo that are not silvery at all. We didn't know to look for a pineapple smell. There was a lot of fragrance in that garden. Here is one more photo.

I saw one of these today on a private gardens tour, totally forgot the name, though I remembered that I was supposed to have learned it. The owner knew it though. He even said "pineapple broom", but it never occurred to me to smell it, and there was no obvious fragrance.

    I'd agree with Argyrocytisus battandieri.
