I have a Kumquat tree that is older than 20 years and very healthy. Three years ago I pruned the branches back about a foot and cut out allot of dead under branches. Before pruning it produced lots of very good fruit. Since it was pruned it has not bloomed or produced fruit. Any ideas on forcing it to bloom and bear fruit again??

Quit pruning and it should bloom and fruit again. You can also spray with a 2% solution of potassium nitrate 1 to 2 months before bloom--now would be about the right time.

It has not been pruined in 3 years. Would I just spray the leaves with a garden sprayer? Would you know the mix ratio? Thanks for the input.

I spray a 2% solution, but I have read that you can spray up to 5%-- I am just a little leary of that much salt. Spray until the tree is dripping.
