I have this trailing, herbaceous plant, commonly known as 'Tangled hearts'. I know that it belongs to Labiateae family. I beleive its Genus is Coleus. I want to know the correct genus as well as species name too. The thick, watery leaves have slight odour.
That certainly may be one we don't see here at all. It reminds me of a few things, all of which are different, however.
It does look like some type of Plectranthus. Looks similar to Plectranthus australis, (Swedish ivy.) Coleus has been reclassified and the species have been (are being?) placed in Plectranthus or Solenostemon in the family Lamiaceae (=Labiatae). I tried a web-search for 'Tangled hearts' with no luck. I wonder, "is that a translation of a local name?" If so you might try a search on that. I can't say for sure what it is, but hope this helps lead you to the answer.
I was also told that it is also called as trailing coleus, will taht help? It is not Plectranthus australis. The leaves are very tiny (size of fingernail) & much fleshier than P. australis.
One plant of mine it reminds me of is Plectranthus cylindraceus, although the leaves are not as small as a fingernail. So, I went looking & found a possibility for you...Plectranthus prostratus. See what you think: http://www.lapshin.org/succulent/album/Plectranthus-prostratus-liho2004.jpg http://www.cactus-bb.com/tupian/a0303.jpg http://www.glasshouseworks.com/trop-p3.html
Oh Yes it is indeed Plactranthus prostatus. Thanks a lot. For years I have been trying to find its name. Thank you again rosemarie
