I have three kiwi plants. They have bloomed but have not produced any fruit. Does anyone know how to tell a male from a female plants?
The female produces fruit!?!....not very helpful. However from what I know, lots of places don't hope the bees will pollinate, they blow the pollen over or the like.
Hello Koko & Carol here is a link to a picture of the diferent kiwi flowers Male flowers have a conspicuous tuft of pollen anthers, while the female shows a snall protrusion like a marble. this is the ovary that will develop into the fruit http://mtvernon.wsu.edu/frt_hort/altcrop.htm#kiwi http://kiwifruit.tuinkrant.org/schemakolomikta.htm I hope this helps you
Thank you, that was exactly what I needed. I just have to wait now till they bloom---which will be shortly.
Hello there, You might need to look your cultivars too, some flower later then others so finding a male to pollinize during the time they are in flower is important. All the best Antoinette
