Kinked Palustris Needles

    I thought the structure of these needles was fascinating.

    Anyone know what causes this type of development?

    Amazing! I've seen slight kinking at times, but nothing like this. I'd guess something stopped the fascicle sheath from opening at the apex to let the needles expand normally. Why that should happen, no idea.
