    We have 8 large vines (25 to 30 years old). They bring a great harvest each year. However they are about to be bulldozed for building expansion. Aside from cuttings, is there any way to save these plants??
    Thanks;
    Bill G.

    Dig them up and transplant, just like any other plant. If you are still dormant, you should have a good success ratio (even if sprouting they should still be OK). Prune them hard, prune off any flowers that develop and don't let them dry out this year.

    Ralph;
    Thanks. Cuttings are being rooted as we speak. We will take care to get as much root as possible, on the transplant, and keep our fingers crossed. Any suggestion for preparing the new location??

    Yes: dig big but don't amend the soil (put back only what you take out or loosen up). Vineyards are commonly ripped (subsoiled, deep plowed...) as deep as the available equipment will allow - 3 -4 feet - before planting. You don't need to go that deep, but you get the idea.
