Can someone tell me what this plant is? I have been trying to identify for months (on and off) and it's apparently beyond me. It was found in a mesic Appalachian forest in late April. It has opposite leaves and multiple white flowers. It's almost viney. It was found on the forest floor. Any ideas?
You could try Ceratocapnos claviculata, you will know if it's a possibility as you've had the plant in your hand.
I was thinking about Vicia caroliniana Vicia caroliniana - Google Search US Wildflower - Wood Vetch, Carolina Vetch, Pale Vetch - Vicia caroliniana Wildflowers and Ferns of Kentucky
