'Kanzan', 'Kanzan', as far as the eye can see. These ones are at 39th & Windsor, looking north:
    20230504_39thWindsor_Kanzan_Blumenthal_3426.jpeg

Then there's a beautiful planting with 'Kanzan' on one side and Prunus avium on the other at 35th (I think):
    I20230504_37thWindsor_KanzanAvium_Blumenthal_3431.jpeg

Then I got a bit artsy:

The single 'Shiro-fugen' tree on the corner south side of E. 18th, west of Knight is spreading out in its bloom at May 6, 2023. All the other cherry trees along the block on E. 18th, westward from Knight, are 'Kanzan' and their petals are falling apart, creating "cherry snow" and barely able to hold a cluster together for their close-up shot (on left side) with the 'Shiro-fugen' on Coronation Cake day.

See that's what I expect from a 'Shiro-fugen' tree. Egan Davis on his Mountain View Cemetery walk talked about how you can distinguish them from 'Kanzan' by the way they stretch out their limbs. Not like the one I mis-identified as 'Ichiyo' for @tknd because its limbs headed upward in a nice "V" shape. Its seems like a smart tree too - knows it had better stretch its limbs along the boulevard instead of out into the street.

The ito-zakura on 30th Ave. just east of Fraser Street is in full bloom, and it's very striking! Note that this is several weeks ahead of schedule.

That looks so attractive. The map wasn't displaying the photos, so I have changed it now to link to your posting.

'Akebono' on both sides of 22nd Ave. going east from Windsor, almost in full bloom - early!

A bit further south, at 24th & Windsor, in Glen Park, the venerable 'Somei-Yoshino' that was in full bloom last year on April 7th is a bit past 50%:

I think a brand new planting of what I think is an Akebono on top of a Prunus serrula trunk. Lovely burgundy peeling bark as it ages. I hope this tree grows well! It is in front of the newish building at 23rd and Fraser, NW corner.

I have a pic somewhere of my young kids holding hands around that cherry tree. It was a spring tradition that one of the Principals at the school did with the students every spring!

It was a great day for cherry blossoms today, March 24, 2024.
On Elgin Street, from 27th to 26th, the 'Afterglow' and 'Akebono' together are in full bloom:
    20240324_Elgin27th_Afterglow_Blumenthal_4672.jpeg 20240324_Elgin27th_Afterglow_Blumenthal_4668.jpeg 20240324_Elgin27th_Afterglow_Blumenthal_4670.jpeg 20240324_Elgin27th_Afterglow_Blumenthal_4671.jpeg 20240324_Elgin27th_Akebono_Blumenthal_4675.jpeg

On the SW corner of 29th and Inverness, 'Snofoazam' is perfect right now:

    20240324_29thInverness_Snofoazam_Blumenthal_4683.jpeg 20240324_29thInverness_Snofoazam_Blumenthal_4682.jpeg

On 35th Ave., between Culloden and Knight Streets, the single red 'Beni Shidare' weeping cherry is in full bloom, whereas its sister, the double red 'Yae Beni Shidare' is not quite full, but this is really the time to see the two of them.

In Grays Park, on the Windsor side, by McBride Annex school, the Rancho cherry is looking really good right now:

This might be the last time that we will be able to get a blossom shot of Kensington's single 'Mikuruma-gaeshi' tree at NE Brock and Nanaimo. There is only one available cluster growing near the junction of the two main limbs branching from the trunk. The rest of the flowers are very high up, and the tree itself does not look to be in good condition, having suffered multiple pruning surgeries. At March 30, 2024.

On Ringwood, the 'Snofoazam' weeping cherry, about mid-block on the north side is a bit past its prime.

On 26th and St. Catherines, NW corner, the 'Akebono' is looking very nice:

A bit further east on 26th, on the north side, almost at Windsor, the 'Yae Beni Shidare' on private property, which was looking pretty awful a couple of years ago, is really making a comeback. I chatted with the owner, and he's really invested in seeing it make a comeback.

The 'Shirotae' trees in Trout Lake Community Centre's back yard are in full bloom at April 6, 2024. Access is off Victoria, eastward to E. 19th.

This one exemplifies the classic wide-spreading (horizontal stems) and flat-top look of 'Shirotae'.

And the first photo exemplifies the classic rootstock taking over and ruining the flat-top look of 'Shirotae'.

Beautiful! But that first image drives me crazy. I can understand that a homeowner or a commercial property might have such a rootstock issue and not know that it's a problem, but a Vancouver Park Board site with professional gardeners in charge? I'm appalled!

Really? "Appalled" as in "surprised"? I complained to the Park Board for at least a couple of years about one of three 'Akebono' planted at Sunset Beach, and I even have an email somewhere saying they will attend to it that summer, but nothing has changed much here since 2016. Here is a Google Street View that I captured last year:

'Shirotae' - on the north side of King Edward between Windsor and St. Catherines - just west of the bus stop - past full bloom, but very fragrant!

29th Ave., going east from Knight Street - 'Ukon' and 'Kanzan' planted together - and even the 'Shirotae' still had blossoms.
    20240413_29thKnight_Ukon_Blumenthal_4859.jpeg 20240413_29thKnight_Ukon_Blumenthal_4860.jpeg 20240413_29thKnight_Kanzan_Blumenthal_4861.jpeg 20240413_29thKnight_Shirotae_Blumenthal_4862.jpeg

And on each side of that corner, both NE and SE corner, baby 'Kanzan' have been planted:

35th & Windsor, one side of the street is Avium, and the other is 'Kanzan', making a nice effect:

New baby 'Shirofugen' in Greys Park, Windsor side, just north of 33rd Ave. This makes me very happy, as I was so sad when they took the one on the other side of Windsor out.
