We are thinking about purchasing a Kelly's gold box elder. We would like a tree that gets to 30 feet to provide some shade for our 2nd west story windows. When searching the internet, the average landscape size can range from 15 feet to 40 feet, depending on the website. Does anyone know of mature Kelly's gold box elders in the greater Vancouvr area? We like the leaf colour but can't find out much else about them. Any help would be appreciated. ron
You're hoping for a precise predictability that does not exist. If 40' would be too much, try something less vigorous. Of course, you will need a fast growing plant to get shade within the shortest possible time. You might consider running bamboo, restricted by a root barrier.
