I have moved into a home with a fairly well-established set of Concord grape vines. The grapes are just forming now (there are tons) and I am wondering what I can do to keep the bees/bugs/birds and squirrels off of them throughout the summer. Thanks in advance for any help!
There are no special tricks for grapes that you won't see on other fruit crops. Physical barriers like fencing, bird nets, shooting and trapping, and the usual array of chemicals. The red and blue/black grapes are more attractive to birds than white/yellow/green. Pruning to open the canopy can reduce the mold and mildew potential. Starlings are like feathered locusts, and one deer can do an incredible amount of damage in a very short time. Ralph
