Hello I have planted Kale in late August from seed it is now +- 20cm tall but eaten up by some bug on many of the young leaves. Must I/or would it be better to protect it with small soft plastic green houses? how toto protect 2 young 4 feet Banana trees . I rolled some JUTE Potato bags from Mexico around the stem. The leaves are still sticking out the top is that enough or must I add some newspaper inside the jute or must the top be covered like cut the leaves and bend the bag over. They are in full SOUTH position close to a rock wall.
PS: I want to take this occasion also to THANK EVERYONE who has answered so kindly some of my 1st time gardener postings. This 1s year Garden was REALLY FUNWe has 4 sorts of lettuce and, kale, pepper, chillies tomatos, nearly all summer. Only all 2nd seeding of lettuce, tomato was in full flower and 2m .50m tall and rotted all away when the rain arrived in September. All was too late. Regards Vic
