Hi All, I have a Kaffir Lime Tree which is suddenly covered in small brown raised lumps....mainly under the leaves and on the branches but also some on top on the leaves. As the ones on the leaves are all along the leaf ribs I suspect insect eggs Other than this the plant is in good health...lots of new leaves and some flowers. The eggs (?) scrape off easily enough with a toothpick but there are a lot of leaves! Can anyone one confirm these are eggs and if so what can I do about it....I love my kaffir tree and would be gutted it it got chewed up by something ! Any advice greatly appreciated....can I spray it ? Should I scrape them off ? Thanks, Geoff
The insect pictured is called scale (actually Soft Brown Scale). Scale infestations on citrus are quite common. There is a lot of information on this site for the control of scale on citrus trees. Post the word scale in the search function of this site, and you will received a lot of information on how to control the insect. - Millet (1,349-)
