Simply out of curiousity, I added up all the "views" on the new UBC aroid forum. This forum is now approaching 6000 views in the first week! Thanks to all who are adding valuable information and to those attempting to encourage others to grow aroids!

Yes seems to be going well so far for a trial forum. It is proving very popular, so far so good!!!

I wonder if Daniel Mosquin can provide server data on the number of unique visitors to this forum, as opposed to just number of views, because I know that I visit and view threads on this forum as many as 20 or more times per day. You see how visitors who view threads frequently and often can lead to very high numbers of views without there being high numbers of visitors. Just a thought . ..

No, I'm afraid I can't extract information about number of unique visitors to a particular forum. You can get an idea of number of people reading a particular forum at any one time, though, by scrolling down to the bottom of the main Aroid forum page and viewing the Currently Active Users box.

The question has also been asked of me as to whether the view count is number of individuals having viewed a thread or the number of times a thread has been accessed. The latter is the case. If you view a thread multiple times in quick sequence, though, the counter won't necessarily go up - to save on CPU resources, the view counter is only updated once every 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 60 minutes? instead of instantly.

I can also tell by volume that this is one of the most active forums, matched by Plant ID, Maples and Indoor Plants ID.

Thanks for the clarification Daniel. At least we know the aroid forum is now one of the top four most popular. But to edleigh7 who asked for it to be started and those who are giving information, thanks. The exchange of good information is the only way we learn.
