So I am new to the forum and to tell you the truth, I really only came on because of my interest in Venus Flytraps. I know how to take care of them and all of that but I have some questions about the place I am purchasing them from. My local greenhouses either don't sell them or they seem in pretty bad condtion(look blackish, fertile soil, etc). So i have resorted to an online store that sells flytraps. Here is the link to the flytrpa part of the site-http://www.bugbitingplants.com/venus_flytrap.php So my first question is if anyone has had any dealings with these people and if you have, could you just say if you would recomend them or not? I am interested in the first buying option(maybe 3 of them so I would have 9 flytraps?) but I was looking and I saw that the second option was basically the same thing except cheaper. I saw that each flytrap was in a seperate pot in the first option whiel in the second one, they were all crowded together. Also, I saw that the first option included a dome while the second one didn't. I intend to switch the flytraps over to a fish bowl when I recieve them because the humidity around here can be VERY low. So considering the fact that I'll be switching the plants over immeditaley, would it be all right to just do the second option? Sorry if I sound really paranoid but I really don't want my flytraps to die within a week of when I get them. Thanks in advance!

I just wanted to say that I am only going to get 6 flytraps and I would like to use a reptile terrarium. It is 8.5" X 14.5" and is 10" high. Would this be too small for six flytraps? And again, if anyone has used something like this before, some feedback would be great!

Does anyone know where someone can buy Venus Flytraps in the Vancouver B.C. area?

I've seen them at Art Knapp's in previous years.

welcome, 1st, i have never bought flytraps from this co. you mentioned. 2nd, i understand entirely about the low quality conditions of many florists and green houses. i have been growing them by trial and error for several years and have found starting my own from seed gave me far more control over the growing medium, food used and growing conditions.
i prefer to use a 20-30L fish tank. i use styrofoam cut outs to float them above water and use bisol electric broom filters to hold clay pellets & coco-choir in place. sometimes i have had fish and even tadpoles and frogs in tank. other plants i have added to the tank have been african violets. both do well as long as they are kept above the waterline. we encouraged fruit flies by hanging a teabag with banana peels inside the tank. once you have enough, place glass lid on top. an air stone is a must.
welcome and good luck! once i format this camera and learn to read the manual, i will post a pic or two of my current tank. peace.
