I am new to the forum and just recently just starting obsessing about plants. I'm growing a garden and unfortunately there are walnut trees everywhere. I've moved my garden almost as far away (about the height of the tree) without putting it into the shade of another tree. If I have 6" raised beds with good soil, organic matter and compost, will I be able to grow tomatos and peppers and other juglone-sensitive plants?

Also, I could move them farther but then there is a tree due west that I fear would shade it for about five hours a day in the summer. Which would be better?

    Any suggestions would be helpful.
    Thanks!

Your raised beds need at least 8 hours of direct sunlight for the nightshade family of veggies (tomato/peppers/eggplants...) the more sun the more vigor for the plants...
is it possible to pollard/prune excessively or replace these juglans (walnut trees)?
