Re: What city Tree is this? Picture #2 looks like the leaves from the Catalpa tree (Indian Bean tree) #1 Picture could be the beans, here they grow longer, did you see the blossoms before they were pollinated, they would of looked like small orchids and would have had a very sweet scent
Re: What city Tree is this? I can then say for certainty that it is Catalpa, I've been growing them for several years for friends, though I cannot grow one on my own property because I lack space. Beautiful when in full bloom, not so when full of bean pods, this is also sometimes called the Umbrella tree because the shape of it looks like an opend umbrella, They can be pruned to keep frm growing to tall.
Re: What city Tree is this? I believe you are correct, What fooled me was the leaves are identical to our catalpa trees, closer look at the pods tells a different story. I believe I got educatd a little more today. I would love to get my hands on a few of those seed pods.
Re: Cercis siliquastrum ??? 1. Definitely not the seed pods of Catalpa, which are very long and thin, and have sort of fluffy seeds inside. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...earchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&sa=N&start=18&um=1 They do look like Cercis seed pods though. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...earchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&sa=N&start=18&um=1 2. Something completely different from 1. Praps Catalpa. When those flower buds in the pic open you will know for sure.
Re: Cercis siliquastrum ??? 1. 3. 4. and 5. All fit Cercis siliquastrum. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...n-gb:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7SUNA_en-GB&sa=N&um=1
