Jostaberry care & pruning

    Was given a beautiful jostaberry shrub that is full of big berries. However it is also full of new growth going everywhere. Is it ok to prune some of this away, so energy goes into the production of fruit? And also to control its spread. It's getting very large. Can I also prune now in June?
