I bought a jasminum officinale plant from a garage sale one week back. The plant had several branches but bare of leaves. The pot was completely dry when I used finger test. I prune dead branches. I gave some composted manure and watered thoroughly. There is not much sign of recovery expect a new little branch shooting up. The plant is kept outside with 50 % sun 50% shade location. Am I missing something? Should I do some hard pruning?
    Thanks for your help

Sorry to see NO reply. There was no recovery for the plant .... so Today I have re-potted the plant with 1 part compost, 1 part potting mix 1 part manure and 4 parts peat moss let us see...

If the one little shoot that did come out did not continue to grow, I would not hold out too much hope for the plant. Jasminum officinale will lose their leaves here in winter. They are very slow to leaf out in Spring as well. But if it started to grow and died back, that does not sound good.

It should be fine despite the weather.
