Hey Fluffy 1, jasmine tree is a general common name, which could refer to several different plants. You may have a Murraya paniculata. See this thread. The plant you have is likely a tropical and will need to be brought indoors for the winter in Toronto. To be certain we would need to determine what the plant is then look at care requirements.
Thank you again for the information on the jasmine tree and coaxing me to bring it inside. Yes , it did loose some leaves, but it is in bloom now and smells wonderful. Could it be that when I left it outside and it got very cold, its inner-system shut down and it went into hibernation? Now it seems so have woke up with a hell of a bang.
