I recently pruned my Japanese Split Maple. It looks like it didn't really appreciate it and is starting to die? Should I have not done that? Can I do anything to treat it? plz help!!

Welcome to the forums sally. A photo may help. Is it just the leaves changing colour and dropping, that would be normal in the fall ? Guessing it is a split leaved {dissectum} type and the trunk is not split. Some help on attaching images here www.botanicalgarden.ubc.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=725 .
