Help... We got a beautiful Oshio-beni Japanese Maple... But the leaves dried up = and now they all all fallen off... We have had hot weather - and severe rains... Is there any hope??? We are in TX - so the temp has gone up to 100. I know the tree tag says Zone 5-8 - but is it beyond help? Thanks!

It is in full sun - morning. It doesn't get alot of shade. I am just not sure if it is not enough watering or too much watering... I will try to get pick up - but as of this morning - there are no leaves left on it...

    Lots of questions here:

1.) What kind of soil is it planted in?
2.) How was it planted? Raised bed, or flush with the ground?
    3.) How large is it?
4.) How long ago did you plant this tree?
5.) Was this a container grown plant, or was is B&B (did it have burlap around the rootball?)
6.) How often do you water it? Have you checked the soil to see if it is wet or dry?
7.) You say it gets "full sun", then you mention morning. Then you mention shade? How much sun, during which part of the day? This is what we need to know.

Japanese Maples can go into stress and lose all their leaves, but still recover. They have an extra set (just ONE, mind you) wating to emerge in case something happens to the first set. If the tree is still alive you should be able to remove the dead leaves and have new ones sprout. If the second set dies, your tree is a gonner for sure.

At this point pictures are worth a thousand words. We need to see it...
