I was sold this tree as a Japanese Princess from a local nursery at our local farmers market. I am trying to verify that this is a Japanese Princess? Eric
The odds are in your favor that it is Japanese princess, but this is one cultivar that needs to be observed through the seasons as it's hard to ID by Summer foliage alone. It may take a year to know for sure after you see the fall color and then see the color as the tree leafs out next Spring. Most don't see much color in Summer despite the photos used to sell this variety. Depends on climate as the Pacific NW will show better colors as heat and sun exposure of more extreme climates can play a negative role. This site shows spring, fall, and what appears to be summer color as it has a second push of new growth in the 4th photo. Acer palmatum Japanese Princess at Essence of the tree
