I have a Japanese Maple that looked like it was doing great by the end of last year. This spring there is only a small clump of leaves at the base and none on the tree (6 ' high now). Can I assume it is alive and just wait? cut off bare branches? Thanks! This is my first post...hope I am doing it right.
