    Hello,

I understand that most JM cultivars are grafted using side-veener, saddle, or inverted-saddle grafts, where the caliber of the scion and rootstock is pretty close.

But, are there cultivars that are grafted using cleft or bark grafts, where a much larger difference in caliber is possible?

Would it for instance be possible to create a weeping cultivar with an older rootstock and a number of bark grafted scions?

Well, found some information on the net partly answering the question:

    http://www.ag.auburn.edu/hort/landscape/STGOnovember98.html

"As many as 8 to 10 grafts may be used on a large, branched understock to get a well branched, quick maturing, weeping plant. Harold also creates vertical specimens by grafting up and down the stem using the same or different color and texture cultivars."

    Harold Johnston.
