    Dear all,

This is my first post to this forum. I wanted to ask for your advice on a type of Japanese Maple with coral bark to be grown in the soil in my area in Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, Zone 9b. The area will receive full sun in the morning and afternoon shade. It needs to be 5 to 10 feet mature height.

I think I've narrowed it down to Beni Kawa, Fjellheim, or Aka Kawa Hime. My primary concern is which of these varieties have the highest heat tolerance. This past summer was unusually scorching in July. The tree will share an area with a mature bearss lime tree which will provide some shade to the maple while it's still young.

There are multiple Japanese Maples growing in my neighborhood, but they are much bigger and I'm unsure of their varieties.

    Do you have any thoughts?

    Thank you kindly,
    Martin

I ended up planting a fjellheim since I didn't get any feedback either way. I'll let you know how things will turn out!
