My Lace leaf maple has dropped all its leaves. Is it dying? I live in Pittsburgh. About 2-3 weeks ago the top of the tree looked like it was loosing its leaves. I looked at it and it looked okay. Now 2 weeks later, all the leaves are gone. I just planted it in the beginning of June. It was a very hot summer. I called the nursery, they told me to fingernail the bark to see if it is still green. I did that. It is still green. Is there anything else I can do to check. I only have 100% guanantee if it is returned in 6 months, which is the beginning of December. I don't know what to do. It seemed okay till now. Do they loose their leaves.

Yes, that will happen every year. All Maples are Deciduous Trees. One of the joys of having them is that the leave turn wonderfull colours in fall.
