I now noticed that my Japanese Red Maple has some leaves with white spots, but 3/4 of the tree doesn't and the bark at the base of the 2" trunk is peeling. Anybody know what might be causing this?

    Pmauro,

It sounds like powdery mildew and maybe some different issues. If you can post some pictures it will be more likely that someone can correctly diagnose the problems. Good luck with your maple!
