About a year and a half ago, my mother was given a small plant. I proved to have a better thumb than her, so she passed it to me. It appears to be some kind of succulent, but I've never been able to identify it. I think I've taken great care of it since it seems to be very happy and healthy, but it is a bit unwieldy. But I don't know if I should be pruning it. I water it once a week and have never cut it. I have re-potted it twice, but whenever I do move it to a larger pot, it just gets bigger. I have attached a photo that I took about 9 months ago. It is much larger now, and several of the pieces have reattached into the soil.
definitely not a jade - which is in the crassula family. looks like some type of pepperomia or maybe swedish ivy. if you want to make the planter look more 'bushy' and filled in, you can trim some ends off and plant them right in the pot.
I don't know if this helps out, but it has never bloomed. I don't know if that's because of something I'm doing or not.
Thanks, Chris. I did some digging and found this picture online. Although this one is growing straight up, it does seem like the same plant. If this is it, any thoughts on why mine never flowered?
it is definately a very old and very leggy Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, if you prune it back quite hard and root the cuttings you can have smaller bushier plants. keep it in a smaller pot because they like to be quite potbound. Give it lots of sunlight and water during the spring and summer and it should reflower for you, also if you have somewhere to place it outside this summer it will enjoy it.
