Just purchased 2 Izu Persimmons, Diospyros kaki "Izu", at a charity auction. Both are about 2 m. tall currently w/ some almost mature fruit. Wondering, do we need to plant both fairly close for pollination purposes, ie do we need a pollinator, or can they be planted separately. Due to space limitations, want to know if possible to have one at separate location where not close enough to act as pollinator for other. If not, want to know whether this variety will stand up to heavy pruning to espalier at a maximum height of around 2.5 m. From talking to nursury this is NOT on a dwarf rootstock. Also, how much shade will these tolerate in the City of Vancouver.

Two propagations of the same clonal cultivar do not cross, there is no difference between this situation and two different branches of the same specimen - it is all the same genetic material.

Hottest possible planting site required for good performance in our region. Is 'Izu' known to grow and fruit adequately here? Not all Asian persimmon cultivars succeed under our conditions.
