I am very curious about what has popped up in my yard. Is this some type of fungus? I have never seen anything like it before. It appears to be a hollow tube.

Growing from ground and soft/flexible not hard?
I'm thinking this might be an emerging stinkhorn or some sort, or perhaps one that is growing incompletely. Is it continuing to grow upwards?

Sorry,My pictures are deceptive. They were taken less than a minute apart. I was just trying to get a closer better angle. Yes, it is growing in soil between two railroad ties. It appears soft and ruffled on the sides but I didn't touch it. It was about 5 or 6 inches tall but the rain has stopped and it has shrunk down to about 2 inches. I've tried watering with the hose but doesn't seem to help. It's on the west side of the house so it gets intense afternoon sun. Maybe I need an umbrella!
