I planted an italian plum in June this year. There was no sign of growth, till a few days ago after Toronto started experiencing higher temps after an under average summer. It is developing little shoots, looking like it wants to go into a growing fury...end of august as if it were spring.

That is why planting should be done in early spring to avoid problems like these. I am about 5 weeks away til the first frost. It is almost certain there will be damage to this tree...true?

Unless the scion died and the rootstock is now trying to replace it.
