Good morning, I have recently learned of Isabella Preston’s remarkable work developing lilacs better suited to Canadian climates. I’m looking for a (Western) Canadian source for two of her varieties: Isabella and James MacFarlane. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bob
Try searching the cultivar names individually with the word price on the end and seeing if any Canadian sources come up. I would also suggest dropping the western Canadian requirement in case that turns out to be unnecessarily limiting.
I have found a few, in Western Canada, that way for Jame MacFarlane, but nothing for the Isabella variety. I was hoping that some Preston admirer might know. I guess that I would buy one from anywhere in Canada, but quite a few nurseries don’t ship potted plants. Thought if I found one within driving distance, it would simplify things. Most haven’t replied, but perhaps now that spring is around the corner, they may.
I can’t personally vouch for this source, but they are Canadian (Quebec), carry ‘Isabella’, and ship nationally. Note the plants are small, however, shipping in cell packs. The site is in French, but has an English button in the header: www.jardiclub.ca
Google located these sources in Eastern Canada.
