I noticed many of these flowers on an alpine hike in the Lake O'Hara area in Yoho National Park. From what I can determine, it had six petals. I assume that it is some kind of ranunculus, but I am having difficulty matching the leaves and flower colour to a particular species. Could this be a white ranunculus eschscholtzii, alpine buttercup? Thanks for your help.

    Anemone sp.?

I don't see any sepals behind/between the petals, which Ranunculus species do have.

    It's Anemone lithophila.

Edit: For next time, Ranunculus eschscholtzii has yellow flowers, as do many of the native Ranunculus here. Among native Anemone, only Anemone richardsonii has yellow flowers.
